Poison The Well‘s first new song in fifteen years, “Trembling Level“, has now officially seen a wide release online. That track is the first to be shared from the group’s eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2009’s “The Tropic Rot“. The metalcore band band first broke news of that forthcoming sixth studio album last summer.
This single was produced by GRAMMY Award-winning musician/producer Will Putney (Better Lovers, Fit For An Autopsy) and arrives via the band’s newly announced label home of SharpTone Records. A music video for it was shot with director Eric Richter(Evanescence, Knocked Loose).
In an interesting development, former guitarist Derek Miller is credited with being one of the songwriters for this track alongside drummer Christopher Hornbrook, vocalist Jeffrey Moriera and guitarist Ryan Primack. Miller left the band in 2004 and was last seen to be briefly involved with them back in 2015. He has since been dedicating his focus to the newly returning duo Sleigh Bells.
Primack commented of this tune:
“For me, I was trying to figure how to effectively incorporate elements from our whole discography into one song. We ended up with this, and it has a little bit of everything we’ve done throughout the course of our existence.”
Moreira added:
“Lyrically, it’s about tackling a fear. I tend to write based on personal experience. You’re approaching something you’re scared to do, going through it, and realizing the hardest parts are actually the ones you should be looking towards because those will lead you to success.”
As see above, the group have also expanded their ranks, officially welcoming bassist Noah Harmon and guitarist Vadim Taver as full-time members. In other news, two more dates have been added to Poison The Well‘s spring North American tour celebrating 25 years of their 1999 debut album “The Opposite Of December… A Season Of Separation“. Those new stops include: April 03rd at The Nile Theater in Mesa, AZ, and April 13th at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS. Two legs of that aforementioned 25th anniversary run have been booked thus far and are set to play out as follows.
