Marilyn Manson‘s comeback album “One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1” has just seen its official release. This twelfth studio album from the multi-platinum shock rocker is his first full-length opus to arrive since over a dozen women came forward with allegations of sexual assault/misconduct against him several years back.
Most of those claims were centered around incidents alleged to have transpired over a decade ago. Manson has publicly denied the allegations made against him, with several of the civil lawsuits brought forward against him having either since been privately settled or dismissed.
However, while the bulk of his legal troubles seem to have been resolved, last month saw Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón state that LADA’s Sex Crimes Division was pursuing “new leads and additional evidence” regarding Manson which had newly been brought to light. Outside of the potential outcome of that investigation, Manson still has several cases in motion. You can catch up on his legal situation in this story from last month.
Legal hurdles and allegations aside, Manson set out to relaunch his music career this year, returning to the stage for the first time in years , while also unveiling several singles from this latest record. Now he has seen fit to accompany its release with a music video for the title track, which once again was filmed with director Bill Yukich.
Manson also issued the following statement today, November 22nd:
“‘One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1‘ is the first half of my story. These songs were conjured from purgatory, and are as raw as a row of broken teeth that slightly resemble a smile. My art is what I live for.
This album means to me exactly what I choose it to mean. I hope when you listen it is the same for you.”
