Former Mr. Bungle saxophonist, keyboardist, etc. Theobald Brooks “Theo” Lengyel has been found guilty of murdering his girlfriend Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Herrmann. Lengyel was a prime suspect early into the investigation into Hermann‘s disappearance/murder late last year, leading to a manhunt for him that ended with his arrest this past January.
AP report that this guilty verdict on the charge of first-degree murder arrived after one day of deliberation from the jury, with Lengyel now facing life in prison. His sentencing is set to take place next month.
The guilty verdict follows the shocking late discovery of a recording capturing what appeared to be the final moments of Herrmann‘s life amid a violent altercation with Lengyel. That recording was admitted as evidence into the trial late last month, weeks into the trial. The recording was said to have been found in late September on a third-party recording app on the victim’s cellphone.
Past reporting by KRCR cited court records indicating that Lengyel‘s previous marriage ended in divorce in 2017, with a restraining order against him over a domestic violence incident being filed. His tenure in Mr. Bungle ran from 1985 through to 1996 and did not end on amicable terms.
