Tommy Vext Comments On Bad Wolves Being Booked To Play 'Aftershock' Festival On The Same Day As Him: "Maybe We'll Both Play 'Zombie'"

As circumstances have played out, both Bad Wolves and their ex-vocalist Tommy Vext will be playing the same date of next weekend’s ‘Aftershock Festival‘ in Sacramento, CA. Vext and his aforementioned former bandmates have had a long history of bitterness between each other since they parted ways in 2021.

While a settlement reached in the fall of 2021 resolved the dueling lawsuits between the two camps that followed in the wake of their split, things eventually turned sour again. This past May found the Bad Wolves camp claiming that Vext had violated the disparagement clause of the aforementioned settlement, which prohibited the two parties from talking poorly of each other in public.

This past summer found Vext serving as the fill-in singer for Latin nü-metallers Ill Niño during a European/UK summer tour. In light of that band parting ways with their own vocalist Marcos Leal late last month, Vext has also been recruited for future shows with them, including the upcoming ‘Aftershock Festival‘.

In a video shared to TikTok yesterday (October 03rd) by Vext, he pointed out that both groups will be playing the Saturday, October 12th date of that fest. Ill Niño are scheduled to perform from 2:00 to 2:30 on the Coors Light Stage, while Bad Wolves will be playing from 04:05 to 04:40pm on the Soundwave Stage.

Standing in front of a green screen displaying the daily schedule in his TikTok video, Vext stated:

“So if you guys are gonna be at ‘Aftershock‘ in Sacramento, I will be performing with Ill Niño. It’s not fake news, it’s true… Oh, it looks like Bad Wolves are playing too. You need to check us both out. I wonder if we’ll both play “Zombie“. Anyway, see you guys in Sac.”

The “Zombie” in question is Bad Wolves‘ 3x multi-platinum cover of The Cranberries‘s 1994 hit “Zombie“. The then Vext-fronted Bad Wolves released their take on that track back in 2018, with its breakout success quickly launching the band’s career.

That cover was originally intended to feature a guest spot from late The Cranberries vocalist Dolores O’Riordan. However, in light of her January 15th, 2018 death, Bad Wolves released their rendition three days after she passed. Bad Wolves would later donate $250,000 of the proceeds from the cover to her family.

Since saddling up with Ill Niño this summer, Vext has taken to covering that song with the group.
