Former Black Veil Brides bassist Ashley Purdy came under fire on social media recently after a number of women came forward with allegations of both sexual and mental abuse and sexual misconduct against him. Following the accusations Purdy addressed the matter, denying the incidents via two since deleted videos. Overnight he issued two new statements on the matter.
“The initial accusations and matter at hand are being investigated.
To address this one issue:
One tour, no one who is underage is allowed backstage of on buses, period.
We have a tour manager and security present at All times, who check ID’s to make sure you are 18+ or 21+ if drinking.
Its an insurance liability as a traveling business. This is standard procedure set in place to protect all parties.
Anything to the contrary is false.”
A second statement reads:
“I am aware of certain derogatory statements being made on social media about my character. I sincerely believe that every woman has a right to be heard, trusted and respected. However, these statements have been worsening over time and I can assure you many false allegations have been made. I am mortified by what is being said.
At this time, despite my concern for everyone involved, I feel I have no choice but to proceed with legal action to quickly bring the truth to light. I am asking all my friends and fans to be patient and reserve judgment as my attorneys work to clear my name. Until then, I hope that everyone stays safe and knows I am doing everything possible to quickly and responsibly resolve this situation.”
