Yesterday, February 08th, saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers take to the stage for the first time since reuniting with their guitarist/vocalist John Frusciante late last year. The brief set took place in Beverly Hills, CA as part of a private charity gig for the Tony Hawk Foundation. That event was held to honor the late Andrew Burkle, who played a pivotal role in the aforementioned charitable organization.
Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins sat in for Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ Chad Smith during the set, fan-filmed footage of which can be found below. Songs said to be performed included:
“Give It Away”
“I Wanna Be Your Dog” (The Stooges cover)
“Not Great Men” (Gang Of Four cover)
The band have been working on a new album in the weeks since reuniting with Frusciante and also have the following shows lined up:
05/15 Gulf Shores, AL – Hangout Music Festival (tickets)
05/22-24 Boston, MA – Boston Calling (tickets)

Thank you to the Burkle family for including us in your celebration of Andrew. His passion for life was contagious & his spirit lives on through our work at @THF.
A good example of Andrew’s magnetism was on display when this all-star lineup came together to play Iggy Pop #acbrox pic.twitter.com/8F3WjGT8K7— Tony Hawk (@tonyhawk) February 9, 2020
