HELLYEAH guitarist Tom Maxwell will be undergoing surgery on his left hand in September to correct issues from a previous injury. The resulting recovery process is expected to keep the band off the road until November. Maxwell recently spoke of the injury to Rock 100.5 The KATT , stating in the below interview:
“I got in a car accident and broke my middle finger in my left hand. I keep getting trigger finger, which — it gets stuck. It’s really odd — an odd feeling. So I’ve got a series of cortisone shots, which the percentage of the cure rate from that is about 70 percent. Unfortunately, I didn’t fall into that. So now [ my doctor is] gonna go in and make a little incision and go in here and fix what’s not right.”
Speaking of the inconvenient timing of the surgery and the September 27th release date of the band’s forthcoming new album, “Welcome Home“, Maxwell added:
“Better now than… I can’t keep getting these cortisone shots. You’re only allowed to have a certain amount. [My doctor] hooked me up last time before this [summer] tour. So I just have to get it done.”
HELLYEAH are currently winding down their summer tour with the following dates remaining:
08/16 Houston, TX – House Of Blues
08/17 Dallas, TX – House Of Blues
They’ll follow that up with a trio of shows in September, after which the surgery will presumably take place:
09/06 Jacksonville, NC – The Tarheel
09/07 Greenville, SC – The Firmament
09/08 Concord, VA – Blue Ridge Rock Festival
