An official statement regarding John‘s passing has since released and can be found below. Additionally, Mastodon‘s drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor has also commented, as has Gojira, whom John also managed.

Thank you for your guidance, your wisdom , your never ending hard work and dedication to Mastodon, always pushing and reaching turning over every stone to make sure we were always protected and always had every opportunity any of us could dream of. Mastodon vocalist/guitarist Brent Hinds has revealed the sad news that their longtime manager Nick John has passed away. The band recently cancelled their fall planned tour with Dinosaur Jr and Netherlands when John‘s battle with pancreatic cancer apparently took a turn for the worse.

They previously commented on his battle against the disease via social media, you can see what they had to say here. In a post shared today, September 08th, Hinds revealed that John has succumbed to the disease.

Tragically Mastodon have a long history with cancer in their immediate and extended family, having previously discussed the matter openly with the disease becoming a big part of the theme of their 2017 album, “Emperor Of Sand“.
