Queens Of The Stone Age vocalist/guitarist Josh Homme has recorded bedtime story for an appearance on the BBC‘s children’s show, ‘CBeebies‘. An air date for that has yet to be revealed. Homme confirmed the news via a recent interview with NME, in which his lingering knee injury was also addressed. In the past he stated that a routine surgery on his knee gone wrong a few years ago saw him face a near-death experience. However, conversations since have seen him explain that an MRSA infection was what really nearly claimed his life and left him bedridden for a number of weeks.
Homme has been seen walking with a cane in recent weeks and apparently aggravated the long-standing knee injury while filming the band’s dance heavy “The Way You Used To Do” music video. He recently underwent another surgical procedure for the injury, which forced the band to cancel their appearance at the ‘Outside Lands‘ festival in San Francisco, CA.
He told NME of the 18-hour video shoot: “I tore my leg up in the morning [but] I didn’t want anyone to know because then they would, like, try to baby me. I can bite my lip, so I just did that a lot.” He added: “We had to cancel a show which I really don’t like doing, you know, everyone cancels if their finger hurts.” That music video is currently only available via Apple Music.
Meanwhile, in the same interview Homme shot down the possibility of a 20th anniversary tour for the band’s self-titled debut album stating “I’m not really nostalgic in that way.” He also further shrugged off any current plans for a potential solo album down the road, revealing that he prefers the “friction” of working with other musicians.
There’s a lot more to read from Homme over at NME. The band’s new album “Villains” is in stores now.
