Disturbed's "The Sound Of Silence" Cover Has Racked Up Over 54 Million Streams

An article over at The Wall Street Journal examines the success Disturbed are experiencing with their cover of Simon & Garfunkel‘s “The Sound Of Silence“, taken from their latest album, “Immortalized“. The track has thus far peaked at #42 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the video of their performance of it on ‘Conan‘ (see below) set a record for the most views for a musical performance on the show, with 11 million and counting. Their cover alone has also been streamed over 54 million times and sold over 660,000 downloads. Likewise, the official video upload for it has also clocked up over 56 million views on YouTubeDraiman told The Wall Street Journal of their rendition:

“[It’s a song] that my parents can play for their friends with pride without having to warn them not to be frightened ahead of time. I have fans saying, ‘Finally, me and my mom can actually agree on music for once!’”

The track also made its way to ‘Dancing With The Stars’, with the routine going on to win the top honor. It also showed up in the trailer the upcoming video game ‘Gears Of War 4‘, the official YouTube upload of which has over 15 million views.
