A wrongful death lawsuit filed against the doctor of late Slipknot bassist Paul Gray has been cleared to proceed, but in an unexpected turn, it’s not the claim filed by his widow, Brenna Gray. The Iowa Supreme Court have ruled that that lawsuit in particular was filed too late and will not go to trial.
Brenna was among the various plaintiffs involved in a filing of manslaughter charges against Iowa doctor, Daniel Baldi, following a string of his patients deaths alleged to have been caused his reckless prescription of pain medications—especially to at risk patients. Gray himself had a history of drug abuse while in Baldi‘s care. Baldi was previously acquitted on those charges.
According to the The Des Moines Register, the wrongful death claim that has now been cleared to proceed against Baldi is the one filed on behalf of his now 5-year-old daughter, October Gray, who was in utero at the time of Paul‘s passing. There’s a lot more to be read on that over at desmoinesregister.com. Gray himself died as a result of an overdose of morphine and fentanyl back in May of 2010.
