Deftones Documentary "Entertain Me" Pulled From Vimeo Over 'Copyright Infringement'

The saga of the once-shelved Deftones documentary ‘Entertain Me – A Film About Deftones‘ has taken yet another turn. Originally filmed around the recording and release of 2000’s “White Pony” by director Andrew Bennett, the film went officially unreleased up until a week or so back, when Bennett put out a final edit of the film via Entertainmefilm.com. Vimeo was utilized as the video provider for those who purchased the film. Over the weekend legal threats were made and recanted by the band’s management, while Bennett himself removed the link to the film from the site, replacing it with the following statement:

“As expected this film is unavailable for a very short time.

I can assure every person who has purchased it, you are getting your film!

No matter what.

I can assure everyone else, that despite the unlawful action placed on my legal film, it will be available very, very shortly.

Again, you waited 15 years, a couple of more days while I fight the Man won’t hurt.

-AB, NYC, 2016”

This leads up to now, where those who purchased the film are being informed by Vimeo that the film is no longer available for viewing ‘due to a notice of copyright infringement.’ One would expect that the claim behind that was launched by the band’s label/management. It shouldn’t be surprising then that Bennett himself previously touched upon his clashes with the band’s management during the making of the film in an interview available here.
