A pair of new singles have just debuted online from Power Trip. That crossover outfit gave those two tracks, “Precinct 3” and “Scavenger“, their initial airing on SiriusXM this week ahead of tonight’s (October 08th) debut. The band’s own Blake Ibanez co-produced them alongside Jacob Hansen (The Black Dahlia Murder, Volbeat), with the latter also mixing and mastering these comeback tracks.

Drummer Chris Ulsh stated:

“Recording worked out really well for us because he has the knowledge of making these big records, but also comes from the late 80’s extreme metal underground. We’re tough to please because we want something that sounds current, but most importantly we want it to sound like us, however that comes out.”

Ibanez added:

“When we were writing this, we wondered what Riley would have wanted to write about. So once we decided on that approach, it honestly came really easily– the lyrics were flowing and it just felt like the right way to kick off this new chapter and honor him. I think he would have been stoked to see it come to fruition.”

Gilmore went on to say of Scavenger:

“There are people out there that ride along and develop some sort of self-importance from association. And from there, they wield that in the wrong directions. Or maybe even against the same people they leeched it from.”

A music video for “Precinct 3” that was directed by Eric Richter (Evanescence, Knocked Loose) is now available below. Power Trip announced their signing with Blue Grape Music this past March. That label venture holds ties to the original Roadrunner Records staff.

Following the 2020 death of their vocalist Riley Gale, the Texan natives went on regroup several years afterwards with Skourge‘s Seth Gilmore stepping in on vocals. While the band have been touring since that return, these two songs represent their first new material since making their comeback. There’s more on the way too, as Power Trip began work on new material over a year ago now and are expected to launch their next studio album in the spring of 2027.

For now, vinyl of these two tracks is also from powertrip-official.com, with an exclusive variant also due out year’s Black Friday Record Store Day event. That event will be held November 27th.
