Crypta are streaming a brand new single titled “A Portrait Of Decay“. The Brazilian death metallers recorded that track this past June at Project Zero Studio in Belgium and are launching it just ahead of their North American tour with Arch Enemy, The Black Dahlia Murder Septicflesh and Thrown Into Exile. The band commented:
“‘A Portrait Of Decay‘ is the first song off this new chapter of the band that we’d like to share with you, our fans. We decided to release it before the album campaign as a way to present the new line-up to you and show you what kind of sound you can expect in this new era of the band. We chose this song because we think it summarizes the whole atmosphere of how our new music will sound. It’s an intense, atmospheric, melancholic, but still epic and aggressive death metal track that talks about dissociation as means to enduring pain and suffering.”
In addition to its digital release, the song is also now available as a limited edition 7″ available through lnk.to/Crypta-APortraitofDecay/napalmrecords. As for the below music video for the song, drummer Luana Dametto stated:
“The video clip is both an almost poetic contrast to the harsh death metal sound but also a cinematic depiction of the lyrics: An ethereal and almost dream-like landscape that represents someone’s true state of being, clear thoughts and and light emotions, that slowly dissipate with the passing of time and changing of surroundings, and with the night and a much darker environment, after a while, feelings of being adrift and astray arise, showing that our conditions and time can directly change the way we see ourselves and the way we feel and interact.
