Multi-platinum rap-rockers 311 tried their hand busking in New York City yesterday, July 17th. Just ahead of that impromptu set, the band put out the following call on social media:

“Hey New Yorkers

Who’s free today at 3pm?

Meet us at Columbus Circle subway (59th St). Inside the turnstiles, main concourse by the Customer Service booth (near A/B/C/D trains).

We’ll see you soon.”

Those who showed up were treated to an intimate acoustic performance from the group’s vocalist/guitarist Nick Hexum, guitarist Tim Mahoney and drummer Chad Sexton, who himself played on plastic bucket drums. Together they ran through stripped-down renditions of “Champagne“, “Amber” and “Flowing“.
