After bringing fictional metal band Cold Slither to life from the 80s animated ‘G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero‘ series last year, Hasbro are diving back into the world of heavier music for a reimagined version of the 1986 big screen debut of another their hit 80s animated series — and toy phenomenon — ‘The Transformers: The Movie‘.

With the original film’s soundtrack sporting a flair for hard rock and more at the time — particularly from the contributions from Stan Bush — this newly revised take on the record will boast a small army of new collaborators to overhaul the record.

Like Cold Slither, Gus Rios (Gruesome, ex-Malevolent Creation), Ross Sewage (Exhumed, Ghoul) and Matt Harvey (Exhumed Gruesome) are serving as the house band of sorts, appearing here under the moniker of ‘The Knights Of Unicron‘.

Vince DiCola, a composer from the original soundtrack is also involved in this reimagined take, which has been dubbed “The Transformers: The Move: The Soundtrack: The Reformatted Edition“. This overhauled version will be out July 24th on Reigning Phoenix Music.

Starting off the proverbial ‘rollout’ for the soundtrack, which also celebrates 40 years of the film itself, is the first single: a re-recording of Stan Bush‘s “The Touch“. It finds Bush backed by the above-mentioned Knights Of Unicron collective.

Other players involved in this new record include Sebastian Bach (ex-Skid Row), Mark Osegueda (Death Angel, Kerry King), Brittney Slayes (Unleash The Archers), Francesco Cavalieri of Wind Rose, and more. The track listing for it runs as follows:

01 – “The Touch” (Knights Of Unicron featuring Stan Bush) (originally recorded by Stan Bush)
02 – “Instruments Of Destruction” (Knights Of Unicron featuring Francesco Cavalieri) (N.R.G. cover)
03 – “Death Of Optimus Prime” (Vince DiCola)
04 – “Dare” (Knights Of Unicron featuring Stan Bush and Vince DiCola) (originally recorded by Stan Bush)
05 – “Nothin’s Gonna Stand in Our Way” – (Knights Of Unicron featuring Sebastian Bach) (Spectre General cover)
06 – “The Transformers (Theme)” (Knights Of Unicron featuring Brittney Slayes) (Lion cover)
07 – “Escape” (Knights Of Unicron) (Vince DiCola)
08 – “Hunger” (Knights Of Unicron featuring Mark Osegueda) (Spectre General cover)
09 – “Autobot/Decepticon Battle” (Knights Of Unicron) (Vince DiCola cover)
10 – “Dare to Be Stupid” (Knights Of Unicron featuring Torch) (“Weird Al” Yankovic cover)

Matt LaPlant produced this effort, while Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Hatebreed) mixed it. For pre-orders, see linktr.ee/Reformatted. ‘The Transformers: The Movie‘ will return to theaters on September 17th for a limited-run in cinemas with a 4K transfer.
