Voivod have begun streaming their live orchestral version of their track “The End Of Dormancy“. This rendition of the song is part of the Canadian sci-fi metal band’s new live effort, “Symphonique“. That set took place June 04th, 2025 at the Grand Théâtre in Québec City, QC, and found Voivod paired with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra. That 12-song concert will be coming home via Century Media on June 05th.
Guitarist Daniel “Chewy” Mongrain said of this performance of “The End Of Dormancy“:
“This one is very special to me. I wrote the riffs imagining Roman naval battles with a full orchestra, like the movies from the 50’s and 60’s. It has a very dramatic vibe. Little did I know that what we synthesized for a four-piece band would eventually explode into its primary, original imagined form. It’s one of the most orchestral pieces on the album, and I remember vividly the crowd’s reaction after the grand finale, it was one of these rare life’s perfect moments. I’m very grateful for that incredible experience.”
Voivod have more symphonic ventures ahead, having scheduled a January 20th show at the Théâtre du Palais Municipal in Chicoutimi, QC with the Orchestre Symphonique du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean. For now, their live plans run as follows:
