East Coast thrash metal legends Anthrax will have their new single “It’s For The Kids” out this coming Friday, May 15th. Pre-saves for that song have just been launched via orcd.co/itsforthekids. That song will lead the promotional campaign for the band’s forthcoming new studio album, “Cursum Perficio“, which the group are expected to release on September 18th. That long-awaited effort was produced by Jay Ruston (Stone Sour, Armored Saint).
The band’s drummer Charlie Benante previously told Brave Words of the album’s title:
“There was a whole idea going around about, all the four bands, the Big 4 bands, kind of getting to the point where, ‘Wow, this may be the time that this could be the last record’. And I was watching this Marilyn Monroe documentary. She has this plaque in her house, which said, ‘Cursum Perficio’ which means ‘My journey has come to an end’ or ‘My journey is over’. And we were talking, and ‘What about this?’. We don’t really have to say that this is the end.”
A leaked track listing for the record indicates it will run as follows:
01 – “Persistence Of Memory“
02 – “The Long Goodbye“
03 – “It’s For The Kids“
04 – “Everybody’s Got A Plan“
05 – “The Edge Of Perfection“
06 – “Infectious“
07 – “NYC 93“
08 – “Cursum Perficio“
09 – “T.O.M.B.“
10 – “Watch It Go“
11 – “My Victory“
Anthrax have previously teased some new material from the record at their live shows. While it’s kind of stating the obvious at this point, This follow-up to 2016’s “For All Kings” had a prolonged gestation period, which at one point saw guitarist Scott Ian scrap some of his planned lyrical contributions to the record. Initial plans also had this record arriving this month, but were scrapped in favor a fall release.
