Trent Reznor Details Nine Inch Noize's Debut Album, Confirms New Nine Inch Nails Is In The Works

Nine Inch Nails linchpin Trent Reznor has lifted the veil on the upcoming debut album from the Nine Inch Noize project. Reznor and his longtime NIN bandmate Atticus Ross wowed fans onstage at ‘Coachella‘ last weekend with the live debut of that undertaking.

As referenced by the name of the project, it found them paired their frequent tourmate and collaborator of choice as of late in DJ Boys Noize. Unexpected however was the addition of Mariqueen Maandig Reznor. In addition to being the wife of Trent, Mariqueen is also a member of another Nine Inch Nails side project, How To Destroy Angels.

Rather than deliver all new material together, the aforementioned set instead almost entirely consisted of remixed and reworked tracks from the Nine Inch Nails catalog. Ahead of hitting the stage last week, Nine Inch Nails confirmed a debut album from the project was slated for a release this Friday, April 17th.

Speaking now of the project, Reznor said in a statement:

“The creative fulfillment of working on the Challengers and TRON scores with Boys Noize led me to think that including him in the Peel It Back tour could be an interesting way to express NIN in more purely electronic terms live – a concept I’ve wanted to explore for some time. The result was so much fun for us we felt it was worth expanding and formalizing in some way.

On a whim I mentioned it would be cool to play a whole set as Nine Inch Noize in the Sahara tent at Coachella. Careful what you wish for…the next thing I knew we were designing a whole new show to present in the way it deserved.

There’s no surprise tour announcement – this Saturday is it. I’m taking Sunday off and excited to be working on new Nine Inch Nails music Monday – I’ll see you when I come up for air.

We recorded this album all over the place – some of it’s live, some in studios, hotels, planes, etc. We had a lot of fun revisiting these songs and hope you enjoy. Listen LOUD.”

Outside of Reznor‘s tantalizing tease of new Nine Inch Nails music being in the works, the track listing has also now been confirmed for this upcoming self-titled record from Nine Inch Noize. As you can see for yourself, that record actively mirrors the setlist the industrial metal icons performed with Boys Noize and Mariqueen this past weekend, complete with a cover of Soft Cell‘s “Memorabilia“.

As referenced by Reznor above, Nine Inch Noize are scheduled for a return trip to the ‘Coachella‘ festival this Saturday, April 18th. They will again be performing on the Sahara stage starting at 08:00pm PST.
