Nine Inch Nails fans can breathe a little easier it seems. Frontman, etc. Trent Reznor recently made headlines for the band’s February 27th, 2026 show at the BOK Center In Tulsa, OK. Taking a pause to address the audience during that set, Reznor cast doubt on the future of the industrial metal legends as a touring entity. He stated:

“I think one of the first times we played here, I think maybe it was Cain’s Ballroom, like 80 years ago…. I think we were opening for Peter Murphy… and we were playing ‘Head Like A Hole,’ and I could see someone in the back screaming the fuckin’ lyrics back at me, and I thought, ‘This is all I ever wanted in life, is to connect with somebody like that dude in the back [of the venue]. Anyway, that’s what I think of when I roll into Tulsa.

I don’t know if we’re gonna be touring anymore after this, but I’m proud of the show that we’re doing right now. And I’m f*ckin’ grateful that you’ve chosen to spend your evening with us tonight. Thank you very much.”

Closing out the band’s ‘Peel It Back World Tour‘ last night, March 16th, at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA, Reznor offered some hope for the band’s future. While he clarified that future touring remains up in the air as of now, he noted that he and his bandmates will be focusing on creating new material together in the months to come.

During a pause in the set, Reznor told the audience the following ahead of introducing the rest of the band [transcribed by theprp.com]:

“As some of you may know, this is the last show of the tour. And to be clear, I think I said something the other day that then got misconstrued into something that is not intentionally necessarily true. What I said was, this is the last show of this tour, and we don’t have any shows booked, and we don’t have any plans to book any shows any time in the future so far. That doesn’t mean we may not tour again. We may tour again. It won’t be next month, it won’t be this year.

I never said we were intentionally stopping, and I never meant that. But, to be truthful, we didn’t tour for a while before this tour because, frankly, I didn’t know if we could do it well, and if it still mattered, and if really [felt] like we had something to say. And the combination of this band, and this crew, and a lot of hard work, and we put on a show that I’m really f*cking proud of. I thank you for coming and attending. I appreciate it. It makes us all feel like we have a f*cking purpose.”

And, what we’re going to do is work on some new music, and make some new shit. And if we feel inspired, and if we feel we can beat this [tour], we’ll see you again. And I hope to see you again, and I hope you come see us if we do.”
