Doom metal outfit Spirit Adrift have put up a new standalone single titled “Eternal Celestial Energy” via Revolver. Frontman Nate Garrett kept it brief in explaining the song, offering:
“I can’t speak too much on this song, other than to say it’s probably the heaviest thing I’ve ever written, both sonically and emotionally. It was extremely difficult to make, but hopefully it will resonate with people who need some catharsis.”
Garrett and his family have been facing extremely tying times over the past year. In July of 2025, Garrett revealed that his wife Nicole was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. Her battle against the disease is ongoing and per a newly shared update made this past Monday, March 09th via her GoFundMe campaign, the couple recently met with a setback. Planned HIPEC treatment to fight the disease was denied by their healthcare insurance company Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.
Nate said in that update:
“Hello everyone,
2 weeks before Nicole was scheduled to receive cutting-edge HIPEC treatment (description at the bottom of this update), Blue Cross – Blue Shield has denied the treatment.
Because of Blue Cross Blue Shield’s denial of this coverage, the plan moving forward has been drastically altered. Nicole will now receive 6 more rounds of chemotherapy directly into her peritoneal cavity. This means she/we will have to travel to Houston and back every 2 weeks starting March 23.
Nicole’s situation is a perfect example of how broken and corrupt the systems are, in a country that’s supposed to be considered first-world. We all already knew it, but this is absolute proof of the predatory, frankly evil practices of insurance companies. Nicole works for one of the largest corporations in the country, and her job is at the corporate level. And still her insurance denied potential life-saving treatment. It’s a tragedy that something like GoFundMe even has to exist, but without it, many average working-class Americans like us would be doomed.
