After a multi-year absence, industrial metal iconoclasts Nine Inch Nails returned to the road last June for their first live show since 2022. Sporting elaborate production and a pair of stages, that ‘Peel It Back Tour‘ has continued on since, but it may wind up being a closing chapter for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Famers.
During the band’s set at the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK this past Friday, February 27th, vocalist/guitarist, etc. Trent Reznor addressed the audience as follows:
“I think one of the first times we played here, I think maybe it was Cain’s Ballroom, like 80 years ago…. I think we were opening for Peter Murphy… and we were playing ‘Head Like A Hole,’ and I could see someone in the back screaming the fuckin’ lyrics back at me, and I thought, ‘This is all I ever wanted in life, is to connect with somebody like that dude in the back [of the venue]. Anyway, that’s what I think of when I roll into Tulsa.
I don’t know if we’re gonna be touring anymore after this, but I’m proud of the show that we’re doing right now. And I’m fuckin’ grateful that you’ve chosen to spend your evening with us tonight. Thank you very much.”
Presumably, with a career as prestigious as that of Nine Inch Nails, one would expect the actual end of their live performance would be undertaken with a certain degree of fanfare and promotion. However, with Reznor now entering his 60s, and his career in scoring and composing for film and TV alongside his Nine Inch Nails bandmate Atticus Ross being more of a primary role, the prospect of Nine Inch Nails scaling back their live commitments from traditional touring cycles in the years to come doesn’t seem unthinkable.

03/06 Glendale, AZ – Desert Diamond Arena
