Atreyu have landed on “The End Is Not The End” as the title for their tenth studio album. The gold-certified melodic metalcore band will be dropping that record via Spinefarm on April 24th. Two singles off of it have already seen a release, including “Dead“, with it’s controversial publicity stunt, and the relatively heavier “Ego Death“.
Frontman Brandon Saller revealed that the group created several of the songs amid creative trips to some adventurous locales, including a trip to Tokyo, Japan. Saller commented
“We realized what made Atreyu great in the beginning was that we didn’t sound like anyone else. We didn’t really make sense anywhere. We weren’t an emo band, a metal band, a punk band — but somehow it all worked. We kind of just carved our own path.”
He went on to add:
“Tokyo made us feel like kids again. We’d write for a few hours in the morning, then go out and get lost in all this inspiration. The first song we finished was ‘Dead,’ and we knew we were onto something.”
Another location that hosted one of their creative retreats was San Juan Island off the coast of Washington, which Saller says helped inspire a different breed of songs. “It was the polar opposite of Tokyo. We didn’t leave the house for four days and wrote some of the heaviest songs on the record.”
Producer Matt Pauling (Good Charlotte, Fever 333) once again worked with Atreyu on this new record, which Saller has dubbed their heaviest to date. He said of the songs that collectively populate it, “It’s our heaviest, most metal record we’ve made. But it’s also the biggest musical journey we’ve taken in years.”
After initially getting a trial run on SiriusXM, the third single, “All For You” has now popped up online. A Sean Stiegemeier-directed music video for the latest track for it is now live. As you can see below, the band have also secured a special guest spot on this new record, with Soulfly, etc. vocalist/guitarist Max Cavalera appearing on “Children Of Light“.
