Some 46 years later, a rare Ozzy Obsourne rehearsal tape from 1980 was recently uncovered in an attic of an individual who befriended the late heavy metal icon that year. David Jolly hit it off with Osbourne around the time of those rehearsals, which found Ozzy, his late guitarist Randy Rhoads, and bassist Bob Daisley holed up in Iketshall ahead of the sessions for Ozzy‘s solo debut “Blizzard Of Ozz“. Roughly twelve minutes of music can be heard on the tape, which finds the aforementioned trio engaged in a bluesy jam session.

Daisley, the only surviving member of that era, confirmed the authenticity of the tape to Sky News, stating that this recording took place prior to the trio aligning with drummer Lee Kerslake. Daisley offered, “As soon as I heard it, I thought, yes, that’s us, that’s Ozzy‘s voice.” He further added:

“I don’t know if we were auditioning a drummer and just loosening up a bit, or we’re just clowning about… but it wasn’t a song we were working on because we had definite songs by then, we had several songs.”

You can hear a clip of that tape being played and find out more on its origins in the below video report filed by Sky News on the matter:
