A new 9-LP box set comprised of much of Darkthrone‘s early catalog will be arriving under the title of “The Fist In The Face Of God” on March 06th in celebration of the band’s 40th anniversary. That deluxe set features newly remastered audio from the Norwegian black metal duo, with Peaceville handling the release. The group’s own multi-instrumentalist Fenriz commented of it:
“This box celebrates 40 years through forests and over heath and includes a filmed interview with us which is as rare as chicken teeth.”
Each of the included albums have newly been remastered by Patrick Engel for this collection, which also includes a new 48-page booklet that highlights the band’s career. Harald Fossberg, a long-time friend of the band, penned that booklet, which also features rare photos. A DVD is also a part of the set, with a career-spanning interview featured on that visual component, along with other interviews from 2003 and a 1996 live show the band played in Oslo, Norway. The albums featured in the set include:
“A Blaze In The Northern Sky“
“Under A Funeral Moon“
“Transilvanian Hunger“
“Panzerfaust“
“Total Death“
“Ravishing Grimness“
“Plaguewielder“
“Hate Them“
“Sardonic Wrath“
