Myke Rivera (aka Puerto Rican Myke, known for his work with District 9 & Skarhead, has passed away. Rivera is said to have spent his final days in hospice care following a heart attack. Skarhead‘s Danny Diablo commented on Rivera‘s passing yesterday, November 27th, stating:
“I WOKE UP TODAY KNOWING THAT MY BROTHER
HAS LEFT OUR WORLD.
YOU HAD THE SAME BIRTHDAY AS I & WE ROCKED
IN THE SAME BAND FOR MANY OF YEARS.
YOU MADE EVERYONE LAUGH & EVERYONE
MAD AT THE SAME TIME.
YOU HAD A HEART OF GOLD THAT SHINED
& NOW YOU ARE GONE.
I’M GLAD THAT I SAID GOODBYE
& YOU MET BOTH OF MY SONS.
N#GGA I LOVE YOU!!!
SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE MY BROTHER!!!
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER
PUERTO RICAN MYKE!!!”
Fellow NYHC vets Madball are among the various other artists to have shared tributes to Rivera, stating:
“Happy Thanksgiving to all! I have much to be Thankful for but this Thanksgiving is bitter sweet – Today we lost a friend, brother and member of the nyhc Family. PR Myke was a character like no other and will be missed by so many. Condolences to his daughter and Family. Godspeed my brother … love you!! Also, I’d be remiss not to mention the recent passing of my cousin Chuchi – someone I always held near and dear to my heart. Love and miss you Cuz!! #tillvalhalla #bmforever”
