While many have thought that multi-platinum hard rockers Godsmack got their name from the 1992 Alice In Chains track, “God Smack“, Sully Erna and co. have long claimed other origins for their moniker of choice. Still, Godsmack themselves have previously ventured into the Alice In Chains catalog with a live rendition of “No Excuses“. Frontman/guitarist Erna has even been diving in a bit deeper into the vaults of the grunge legends during his recent live shows.
Last night, November 26th, saw him partake in Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt‘s family tradition of hosting the ‘Turkey Jam‘ in Hudson, MA. Erna fronted a cover of Alice In Chains‘ 3x platinum 1990 single “Man In The Box” (a song he’s previously covered live, along with other Alice In Chains cuts). Beyond that, last night also found him sitting in on drums for a rendition of Led Zeppelin‘s “Immigrant Song“. Fan-filmed footage of both of those pairings are available below:
