The weekly series of track debuts from Sol Invicto‘s ‘Vault Of Shadows’ initiative continues unabated, with the industrial electronic metal collective issuing the song “There Never Was” (Breakbeat Mix). While last week’s “Tokyo Nights” was more oriented towards the talents of the band’s nucleus Richie Londres, this latest offering features input from his fellow primary collaborators in Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter and Cypress Hill percussionist Eric Bobo.
It’s also an alternate take on an upcoming collaboration the collective have with an unspecified Latin artist. Londres stated of it:
“A lo-fi gritty breaks track ft Stephen Carpenter of Deftones and Eric Bobo (Cypress Hill) adding the Latin flavour to the track. This is a alt version of a track we have coming up next year with a Latin artist.
Production Notes: Loose old school classic break, chopped a little but still keeping it loose, pushed with some kicks and snares running hot through distortion and delays. A dirty guitar recording sampled and chopped with some clean live percussion (one take) running behind holding the track together. Mastered with a low end push, gritty on purpose.”
