Ulver have a fourteenth studio album, “Neverland“, due out on New Year’s Eve (December 31st.) That record will initially arrive on digital formats, with a physical release to follow on February 27th. Described as a largely instrumental affair, “Neverland” finds the black metal turned synth-pop outfit placing less restrictions upon themselves. As they put it, “With ‘Neverland‘ we embraced a more ‘punk’ spirit – more dreaming, less discipline — freer, quite simply.”
Following the wake of the passing of their keyboardist/programmer Tore Ylwizaker in 2024, the band have opted to not welcome in a new replacement, instead taking on more duties themselves. The musicians involved with this latest record include:
Kristoffer Rygg – drums, percussion, electronics, synthesizer, vocals
Ole Alexander Halstensgård – programming, electronics, synthesizer
Anders Møller – percussion, drums
Jørn H. Sværen – synthesizer
Stian Westerhus – guitar, bass guitar
Sara Khorami also provided some guest vocals. Rygg and Halstensgård oversaw the production duties for the album, with Møller taking on the mixing duties. Newly shared from this upcoming effort is the below visualizer for the lead single, “Weeping Stone“.
