P.O.D. vocalist Sonny Sandoval has launched his new solo project, Sonny Dread. A two-song EP by the name of “Sleeping Lion” has officially ushered in this project. Outside of the title track is the song “Talk To GOD“, which features a guest spot from rapper/musician Q-Unique of StillWell fame.
A full album has already been completed, with the project leaning heavier into Sandoval‘s reggae, dub and hop influences. Sandoval commented briefly on the launch overnight, offering:
“After over a decade of wanting to release a solo project – Sonny Dread is here. ‘Sleeping Lion‘ & ‘Talk To GOD‘ w/ @mr_q_unique is now available. Full Sonny Dread album is coming!! Hope you dig it.”
While a release date remains pending for his upcoming self-titled debut album, it has been confirmed that guest appearances from his P.O.D. bandmate Marcos Curiel will be featured, as well spots from Ray Riley, Dondi, Arise Roots, Louie Castle, and Gil, Migs and Rog.
