Raven‘s cover of Metallica‘s “Metal Militia” is now streaming online. The British proto-thrash metal vets were among Metallica‘s earliest tourmates, sharing stages together on a trek staged back in 1983. This rendition is part of an upcoming tribute to some of Metallica‘s seminal work— no, not “Load” — their debut album “Kill ‘Em All“.
The aforementioned tribute has been christened “No Life ‘Til Leather – A Tribute To Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All” and is slated to arrive this Friday, November 14th through Silver Lining Music. Raven‘s vocalist/bassist John Gallagher shared his thoughts on taking on this track, which finds his brotherly bandmate of Mark Gallagher (guitars/vocals) featured on the mic. John stated:
“We are very happy and honored to have been asked to be part of this awesome tribute to our old sparring partners. Our cover version is many things as you will hear… in the best tradition of the guys themselves, but I think we captured that Metallica ‘snarl’…. Especially by changing a few key elements! Features Mark on vocals, today all is revealed!”
