Swedish prog rockers Katatonia have released a cover of the 1981 KISS track, “A World Without Heroes“. According to Katatonia frontman Jonas Renkse, this rendition was as part of the sessions for their latest album “Nightmares As Extensions Of The Waking State“, which arrived this past June. Of course, given last month’s tragic passing of ex-KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, it has since taken on a different meaning for the band. Renkse elaborated on that:
“A final single from the ’Nightmares…’ session, a cover of KISS’ ’A World Without Heroes’ which is one of the songs we usually listen to in the dressing room before going on stage. For us, it now also serves as a memory of Ace Frehley’s legacy. Nico’s rendition of his solo is nothing short of amazing! Also, this release includes Karin Park’s outstanding remix of ’Wind of No Change’. Enjoy, and come see us in Europe this fall/winter!”
