New material from Slipknot is still looming on the horizon according to the band’s latest recruit, drummer Eloy Casagrande. A recent appearance on Drummer’s Review found the aforementioned Sepultura transplant confirm that songs are still shaping up. That more from the masked Iowan metal phenomenon is on the way isn’t exactly a revelation. However, the band’s diehard fans likely expected to at least have one new track with Casagrande behind the drum kit by now.
Back in May of 2024 the band teased a new song by the name of “Long May You Die“ which has yet to surface. In May of this year, guitarist Jim Root spoke of where he was at with new material for the band, revealing he had some six solid song ideas up his sleeve. He also mentioned that he wanted to, “revisit the raw energy of how those first two records were recorded…” when it came to that next release. Speaking in the new interview mentioned above, Casagrande offered:
“What I can tell you right now is that we are cooking, we are doing some new music, for sure. Yes, we are. Since I joined the band, we have been working on some new ideas. We keep exchanging guitar riffs, drum beats, so we are always doing something. We had also some jam sessions. So we have a lot of material right now. We just have to sit and put everything together, start jamming, and it’s happening. It already happened. It’s gonna happen in the future. So new material is coming, for sure.”
