Trivium paid homage to Brazilian metal legends Sepultura over the weekend, rolling out their cover of the latter’s 1993 track “Slave New World” live for the first time since 2010. There’s a bit more to the story than that however, as that set, which took place at this past weekend’s ‘Aftershock Festival‘ in Sacramento, CA, also served as Trivium‘s first live performance with Sepultura drummer Greyson Nekrutman.
The band secured his services behind the kit for that festival appearance, as well as their upcoming fall headlining run with Jinjer and Heriot. Nekrutman has stepped into that role in light of the recently announced departure of their longtime drummer Alex Bent.
