It seems like where Tim Lambesis is involved these days, controversy is sure to follow. The As I Lay Dying vocalist has had another tumultuous few years after his almost entirely rebuilt backing band publicly imploded last November. Lambesis first became an infamous figure in the metal scene back in 2013 after being sentenced to prison for attempting to hire a hitman murder his wife at the time.
Despite the gravity of his actions , he managed to reunite the aforementioned metalcore outfit in the years after his release, going on to re-establish the band with new music and frequent touring. However, since then, the group have experienced two mass lineup exoduses, with the latest leaving Lambesis as the sole member.
The last lineup meltdown became an scandalous spectacle. Footage of concerning behavior between Lambesis and his wife at the time Dany Lambesis was leaked to the internet, showing the couple in heated exchanges, with erratic physical and mental behavior being exhibited by Tim. Concerning footage of Tim and his dog also surfaced online.
A war of words followed, with Tim claiming to have been abused across several years by Dany. Meanwhile, Dany went on to fire back with allegations of her own against Tim. Despite the all the drama, Tim has vowed to once again replenish the ranks for As I Lay Dying and continue on with the band.
However, while that decision alone has been met with a divisive response, the routing for group’s upcoming first tour back also raised some ire, given that it will start in Russia. That run will celebrate 20 years of the band’s third studio album “Shadows Are Security” and is scheduled to begin in Moscow in October 30th.
Few western artists have taken to performing live in Russia since the country invaded Ukraine back in February of 2022, leading to a brutal war that continues to rage to this day. Controversially, Lambesis‘ upcoming first run back with his retooled band will commence with three Russian shows.
While Lambesis has yet to reveal who is joining him for this latest resurrection, it would appear we may know more this coming Wednesday, October 08th. A teaser video posted on the band’s social media today, October 04th, indicated an announcement/reveal will be made mid next week. Indicative of the ongoing backlash being experienced by Tim since last fall’s blowout, comments on As I Lay Dying‘s social media remain disabled.
