Spinefarm have added Floridian hardcore band Southpaw FLHC to their roster. Emerging with the label announcement is the debut of the band’s new track, “Torches“. Touching briefly upon the track, vocalist Daryn LaMontagne stated, “To be the example, you must live the example and hold the line. ‘Torches‘ reminds us: Legacies aren’t inherited; they are forged.”
A press release further fleshed out the intent behind the lyrics, stating:
”Torches‘ leans into the mindset that you need to run the game in your field. Whether that field is music, business, the streets or life itself. The torchbearer sets the tone, dictates the standard, and protects the legacy. It’s a salute to those who came before, and a call to honor the lineage. The torch is more than a symbol. It is a responsibility and a lifestyle that comes with sacrifice. To carry it means you’ve earned your place through discipline and unwavering commitment. It’s not given freely, nor should it be.’
While the above represents some good news for the band, they were hit with a significant setback last Sunday, August 24th, as their bassist Marc Laroche was involved in a bad car accident. He suffered a broken sternum and internal bleeding in the crash this crowdfunding campaign was launched to help him get back on his feet.
