Just hours before its planned broadcast yesterday, August 18th, a new documentary centering around late heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne and his family was dropped from the BBC‘s schedule. That doc, titled ‘Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home‘, originated from a planned series dubbed ‘Home To Roost‘, which chronicled some of the final years of Osbourne‘s life as he and his family relocated back to the UK.
However, challenges with Ozzy‘s declining health saw the vision for the series shift, with the footage instead being repurposed into a documentary. While yesterday’s first airing was pulled without explanation, a statement since issued by BBC now confirms that a request was made by the family to hold off on airing the documentary for now. That statement read:
“Our sympathies are with the Osbourne family at this difficult time. We are respecting the family’s wishes to wait a bit longer before airing this very special film. The new air date will be confirmed shortly.”
Osbourne passed away on July 22nd from a cardiac arrest at the age of 76.
