Megadeth's New Mystery Countdown Seems To Be Teasing Something Related To "Rust In Peace"

GRAMMY Award-winning thrash metal legends Megadeth look to have a big reveal in store for tomorrow, August 14th. A countdown clock featured on the band’s official website, megadeth.com will be winding down tomorrow morning, August 14th. Perhaps in a bid to not let expectations run too wild, the band have seemingly telegraphed their next move in a way, including a passage of lyrics from their gold-certified single “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due” on the site.

That song is taken from the band’s platinum-certified fourth studio album “Rust In Peace“, which came out in 1990. If you’re doing the math at home, you’ve likely already figured out that record will be turning 35 next year — on September 24th to be exact. While it seems another look back at the band’s storied catalog is in the works, this year has also found the band back in the studio for their seventeenth studio album. Those recording sessions have once again been taking place with co-producer Chris Rakestraw.
