Floridian metal outfit Trivium closed out last night’s (August 08th) opening date of this year’s ‘Bloodstock Open Air‘ festival in style with a wealth of special guests on hand. That headlining set found the group paying tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne with a first time cover of Black Sabbath‘s “Symptom Of The Universe“, complete with guest vocals from Robb Flynn of fellow ‘Bloodstock‘ headliner, Machine Head.
Trivium also had Sleep Token‘s III join in on “Throes Of Perdition“, dusted off their 2005 cover of the mighty Metallica‘s enduring thrash anthem “Master Of Puppets” for its first performance since 2008, and had Emperor‘s Ihsahn step up for a guest spot on “In Waves“.
The surprises didn’t stop there however, as Malevolence guitarist Josh Baines sat in on “The Deceived“, while Trivium also gave a live debut to their newly released single, “Bury Me With My Screams“. The latter will appear on the group’s new three-song EP, “Struck Dead“, which is headed for an October 31st release.
