In Your Shadow“, VIMIC‘s ode to late goth metal icon Peter Steele, is now streaming across leading digital service providers. Originally penned as a tribute to the aforementioned Type O Negative vocalist/bassist, the song has also since gone on to serve as an aural memorial for VIMIC‘s late drummer, Joey Jordison (ex-Slipknot, etc.). Vocalist Kalen Chase told Revolver of the origins of the 2014 track:

“Maybe it was in my head, but it’s where I went with it. Joey was a big fan of Peter Steele and he actually introduced me to him in 2007, so there was no pushback on writing a tribute song about him.

It’s a departure from the more extreme stuff we were doing for the record, which made it feel fresh. Playing it live was special because everybody had somebody specific in mind they were playing for. Now we’re playing it for Joey.”

On the back of this successful Kickstarter campaign, VIMIC are preparing to release their long-shelved debut album “Open Your Omens“, which was written and recorded around 2016-2017. The group will also be getting back together to celebrate the release of that effort onstage, simultaneously paying tribute to Jordison by raising funds for charitable organization setup in his name.

That concert will be held October 03rd at the Teragram Ballroom, the same day “Open Your Omen” will be released. Revocation‘s Ash Pearson, Crypta‘s Luana Dametto, and 10-year-old drumming prodigy Caleb Hayes are scheduled to fill-in behind the drum kit at that show.
