Thousands flocked to the streets of Birmingham, UK this morning, July 30th, to witness an official funeral procession held for the late Ozzy Osbourne. The heavy metal icon passed away last week on July 22nd following a lengthy battle with illness. A key stop on the procession was the site of Black Sabbath Bridge, a local landmark honoring Osbourne and his aforementioned pioneering heavy metal band. Since his untimely passing, that site has transitioned into a memorial site for fans and mourners to pay their respects to the Prince Of Darkness himself.
Today’s procession was livestreamed across various sites and can be rewatched below. Bostin’ Brass preceded the procession, playing renditions of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne hits, as Osbourne‘s wife Sharon and his children and family attended the memorial site to tearfully pay tribute to the departed patriarch or their family. The public display of mourning is to be followed by a private funeral for Osbourne.
