In a tragic day for heavy metal, Ozzy Osbourne has passed away at the age of 76-years-old, just weeks after his final live sendoff in Birmingham, UK earlier this month. The multi-time Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer is said to have passed away surrounded by his family this morning, July 22nd. His family has since issued the following statement to the media:
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
Osbourne had been battling with the advancing symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease and various other ailments throughout his final years. He remains an indelible architect of heavy metal and hard rock and will truly be missed. He blazed a trail not only with his immeasurable talent, but also his storied activism for the heavy metal scene, from fronting heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath to his own lauded solo career, to breaking generations of bands via the ‘Ozzfest‘ and more.
It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.
We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.
