Despite an all-star cast of musicians having been locked in to sendoff Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne this weekend at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK, one of the few glaring omissions is that of fellow Brummies Judas Priest.
Their absence from the bill is the result of an unfortunate scheduling conflict, which has been publicly lamented by the metal god himself, Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford. Before getting the call to partake in this weekend’s final show from Sabbath and Osbourne, Judas Priest had agreed to a gig with Scorpions. Halford said he was “absolutely gutted” to miss out on this farewell extravaganza.
With Sabbath and Ozzy‘s July 05th swan song nearly upon us, Judas Priest have chosen to pay tribute to Sabbath and Ozzy in a different way, newly sharing the below live video for their performance of Black Sabbath‘s 1970 anti-war anthem, “War Pigs“. The Priest camp commented of their rendition:
“We are honored to show our love for Ozzy and Black Sabbath with our homage of ‘War Pigs‘ – a song we play at every show around the world that fans sing along to – reinforcing their love as well for the legendary Prince Of Darkness….!!
