Blood Vulture, the gothic sludge metal band helmed by ‘Two Minutes To Late Night‘ host Jordan Olds, released their debut album “Die Close” today, June 27th. Landing online in tandem with that record is the below music video for the title track. Olds said of the album as a whole:
“This is the first time I’ve ever released a piece of sincere art. Love it or hate it or think it’s okay, I sincerely appreciate anyone who takes the time to listen to it. Also, S/O Spider One from Powerman 5000 for calling out my comedy as a defense mechanism. Probably wouldn’t have made this if he didn’t cook me like that.”
As for this specific track, he added:
“This video was heavily inspired by Kathryn Bigelow‘s ‘Near Dark‘ and also a little bit by ‘The Lost Boys‘. I love that they are these sister Vampire movies from 1987 that have almost the same plot, but couldn’t be more beautifully different in style. This is a song about the universal pain of loss, but in reality I wrote about my dog and how I think about her passing a little bit every day to try to ease the pain of the day when she finally passes.
Every guest vocal you see on the chorus of the song was performed by one of my friends who also has a dog that they’d do anything for, so it meant a lot to me to have their voices on the track.”
