Static-X have announced that “Push It“, the lead single from their 1999 platinum-certified debut album “Wisconsin Death Trip“, has attained a gold certification in the United States. According to the self-proclaimed ‘evil disco’ band, that track is also now closer to attaining platinum status.
Should the track manage to cross that threshold, it would mark their second platinum award in the United States to date. Their aforementioned full-length “Wisconsin Death Trip” went gold back in January of 2000, before hitting platinum status in 2001. Its follow-up, 2001’s “Machine“, went on to achieve gold status back in November of 2003.
The band shared the below post announcing this new RIAA accolade this morning, June 18th:
“We’ve been killing it on the road the past year and haven’t even had the time to acknowledge that ‘Push It‘ was certified Gold! X-Bot has crunched the numbers and it’s actually closer to Platinum now, so we’re calling on you to help us ‘Push It‘ Platinum – or get a shovel to the face.”
Static-X will once again be celebrating 25 years of “Wisconsin Death Trip” on the road this summer/fall as direct support to Mudvayne. The latter outfit will be marking 25 years of their own debut album “L.D. 50” on that run, which will see Vended opening. In addition to Static-X recently being added to all dates of that trek, the outfit have also added some headlining off-dates with Dope set to open.

A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
