With Code Orange currently “on the shelf“, the band’s guitarist/vocalist Reba Meyers has been keeping busy, serving as the touring guitarist for multi-platinum shock rocker Marilyn Manson and preparing her upcoming debut solo album.
A third single from that outing has just arrived online in the form of “Clouded World“, which was recorded under the late ‘producer’/engineer, etc. Steve Albini, some six months before his untimely passing in May of 2024.
Speaking of the chance to work with him, Meyers stated:
“Steve championed the medium of physical recordings, and that process inherently encourages the commitment to imperfection. I hope to embrace the randomness and grit of life, which includes our imperfections, as both their beauty and ugliness are often able to both inspire and teach us about our inner workings.”
As for the song itself, she added:
“Too many aspects of the modern human condition feel entirely over-labored and orchestrated. We have drifted far from our primal instincts and have gotten so distracted by the myriad tools at our fingertips that we forget that our human imperfections are the one thing that makes us special and unpredictable.”
A music video for this new cut was shot with Sanford Worth and Tony Aguiilera co-directing and is available below. In other news, Meyers has announced her first solo tour, which will launch this August. Kimi Malka Hanauer and Ninth Cage (Year Of The Knife) will appear as support on select dates.
