Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello Recently Partook In Anti-ICE Protests In Los Angeles, CA

With much of his musical career built upon political activism, Tom Morello, guitarist for Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame-inducted political firebrands Rage Against The Machine, has rarely shied away from lending his support to a cause he deems fit. From showing solidarity with workers in various union disputes, to skewering both Democrats and Republicans, rallying for political prisoners, and chastising various governments and politicians, Morello has remained consistently vocal of his beliefs.

Most recently the 61-year-old musician stood up for his alma matter Harvard University and his friend Bruce Springsteen, both of whom who have found themselves clashing with U.S. President Donald J. Trump and his administration’s policies.

Morello has now once again stepped forward to voice his beliefs, this time amid the outbreak of protests in the Los Angeles, CA area in recent days in response to immigration raids being conducted in the city by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In a move some local politicians have called unnecessary escalation, President Trump called in the National Guard and U.S. Marines to quell the protests.

Morello himself hit the streets earlier this week to show his support with the protestors. An avid Chicago Cubs fan, Morello seems to have dressed for the occasion with a batting helmet. Morello‘s stance against ICE is by no means a surprising turn, in fact, while performing at last month’s ‘Boston Calling‘ festival, he had a sign stating “Fuck I.C.E.” affixed to the back of his guitar.

In the below gallery of photos and videos shared on his Instagram this week, he documented his time spent in the relative trenches. Referencing the lyrics for Rage Against The Machine‘s lead single “Guerilla Radio” from their 2x multi-platinum selling album, “The Battle Of Los Angeles“, Morello captioned that gallery as follows, “Made some friends in Boyle Heights and DTLA yesterday. #DefendLA #WhatBetterPlaceThanHereWhatBetterTimeThanNow”
