Next month’s live farewell sendoff for heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath and their iconic frontman Ozzy Osbourne will be livestreamed across the globe. That sold-out show has been booked for July 05th at Villa Park in Black Sabbath‘s stomping grounds of Birmingham, UK.
The benefit concert will be raising money for charities picked by Osbourne and will feature a who’s who of metal and hard rock stars coming out to pay homage to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Famers. Outside of Osbourne and the classic lineup of Black Sabbath getting back onstage for their respective last live performances, the following list of artists have also signed on:
Metallica
Guns N’ Roses
Slayer
Tool
Pantera
Gojira
Halestorm
Alice In Chains
Lamb Of God
Anthrax
Mastodon
Rival Sons
Upping the ante, the majority of performers are also expected to be throwing in covers of Sabbath and Osbourne tracks into their sets. Beyond that, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello will be serving as the musical director for an epic jam session that is also set to pay homage to the works of Sabbath and Ozzy. Among some of the artists booked to take part in that are:
Andrew Watt
Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins)
Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Danny Carey (Tool)
David Draiman (Disturbed)
David Ellefson (ex-Megadeth)
Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses)
Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit)
Lzzy Hale (Halestorm)
Jake E. Lee (Red Dragon Cartel, ex-Ozzy Osbourne)
Jonathan Davis (Korn)
KK Downing (KK’s Priest, ex-Judas Priest)
Mike Bordin (Faith No More/Ozzy Osbourne)
Papa V Perpetua (Ghost)
Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, etc.)
Sammy Hagar (ex-Van Halen)
Slash (Guns N’ Roses)
Soundgarden
Steven Tyler (Aerosmith)
II (Sleep Token)
Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine)
Vernon Reid (Living Colour)
Whitfield Crane (Ugly Kid Joe)
Wolfgang Van Halen (Mammoth WVH, ex-Van Halen)
Actor and avowed metalhead Jason Momoa (‘Aquaman‘, ‘Game Of Thrones‘) will be hosting the day’s proceedings. Osbourne himself is expected to perform in a limited capacity, fronting some five song for his solo set, likely from a seated position. The 76-year-old was forced to retire from touring several years ago amid a number of ongoing health challenges.
Those looking to catch the all-day livestream from home can pickup tickets today, June 06th, via backtothebeginning.com. Ozzy‘s wife and longtime manager Sharon had the following to say about this event, which will be filmed by Mercury Studios:
“We had such an overwhelming demand from fans from around the globe, who couldn’t get tickets to the show, and they took to social media, pleading with us to broadcast a livestream of the show. Being this is such a historic event, we just couldn’t let them down.”
