Prog metal outfit Cynic have announced the departure of drummer Matt Lynch from their ranks. A statement issued by the band overnight reads:
“After a meaningful chapter together, we’ve decided to part ways with Matt Lynch. We’re thankful for the time and music shared and wish Matt all the best as he moves ahead.”
Lynch joined the band back in 2015, replacing the now late Sean Reinert behind the kit. The band’s live performance of their 1993 debut album “Focus” at this past weekend’s ‘Maryland Deathfest‘ saw Michel Bélanger of Gorguts & Bestov fame sitting in on drums. It is unclear if Bélanger will retain that role going forward.
