French avant-garde metal band Igorrr released their new single “Blastbeat Falafel” to the world this morning. This track finds the band joined by Mr. Bungle guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Trey Spruance. Violinist/trumpeter Timba Harris, who plays with Spruance in Secret Chiefs 3, among his other pursuits, also guests.
Igorrr mastermind Gautier Serre commented of this collaboration:
“The track is an unnatural and unorthodox connection between metal and traditional oriental music. A metalhead who truly loves oriental music tried to fit in with the codes of oriental music but didn’t succeed. He tried too hard, lost his identity, and ended up in a psychiatric hospital.”
You can find this song on Igorrr‘s upcoming fifth studio album “Amen“, which is slated for a September 19th release via Metal Blade Records.
